PilloRama

(2015) This is a game Joris Kauffeld (programmer/developer) and I built during our internship we did for Pillo. The Pillo controller is a pillow that is used to play video games with. The only thing you need to do is press it, in order to interact with the video game.
Our target audience were small children, between 3-9 years old, or people who have been in the hospital for quite some time. This is where our unique selling point comes in: we wanted to personalize the game. What better way to do it than have the option to upload your own photographs so people can play the games and see their own pictures appearing in-game.
The default images were three concept art images I created.

Joris and I started with our unique selling point, followed by choosing three different themes (we chose medieval, western and futuristic) and creating levels and puzzles around these themes. The rules we only needed to apply were: no violence, and no drugs or sex/nudity. The goal of the game is to help the characters in their level.

Vincent Wolters did the art for the user interface and the logo. I created all the assets as shown in the game, including textures and animations. This was completed in roughly 20 weeks and contains three levels, each with six interactions/puzzles.

Programs that were used:

  • Autodesk Maya 2015
  • Photoshop CS6
  • Adobe After Effects CS6
  • Unity 5
